Emerald Eternal Green is an international family-owned business specializing in lifelike artificial flowers, artificial plants, and green decorative solutions. Based in Eindhoven, Emerald serves business customers such as garden centers, florists, home furnishings stores, wholesalers, and interior landscaping companies throughout Europe.
With more than 40 employees, a warehouse spanning over 8,500 m², and a 2,000 m² showroom, Emerald operates extensive commercial, logistical, and international processes. In addition to its year-round collection, the company develops several seasonal collections each year, in which product information, visual materials, availability, and reliable delivery times play a key role.
Emerald was using an ERP solution that was originally part of Unit4 and is now part of Klipboard. Like many older ERP systems, this environment was feature-rich and had been expanded over the years with customizations that closely aligned with Emerald’s processes.
That functionality was very valuable, but the underlying technology was no longer the right foundation for further digitization. New applications, sales channels, integrations, and AI capabilities require a modern architecture in which systems can communicate with each other more easily and changes remain manageable.
The challenge, therefore, went beyond simply replacing the ERP system. Emerald wanted to reassess its entire IT landscape:
Emerald wasn't looking for a one-to-one replacement for the existing system, but rather a new digital foundation on which the organization can continue to build in the coming years.
After extensive research, Emerald has chosen Uniconta new central ERP platform. This decision was preceded by a thorough planning phase, during which not only Uniconta but the entire application landscape was evaluated.
A key principle is that Uniconta will become Uniconta central source for financial, commercial, logistical, and product-related information. At the same time, Emerald will continue to use an integration layer to communicate with various applications. This creates a manageable architecture in which systems can exchange data in a controlled manner.
The solution includes, among other things:
Uniconta extensive options for configuring custom fields, tables, screens, workflows, and layouts. This allows Emerald to capture and present product information in a way that aligns with its own processes.
The report generator allows users to create their own layouts and product documents. As a result, some of the functionality that is traditionally handled by a separate PIM system can potentially Uniconta supported directly from within Uniconta . During implementation, a decision is made for each component regarding which information is best managed in Uniconta which should be managed in a specialized application.
Implementation has begun. The intended result is a significantly modernized IT landscape in which Uniconta, the new B2B portal, the integration layer, and the other applications function as a single, cohesive whole.
The investment is therefore clearly more than just the replacement of an outdated ERP system. Emerald is building a new digital architecture that will enable further automation, new applications, and future AI developments.
The intended result:
With this decision, Emerald Eternal Green is not only choosing a new ERP system, but also a future-proof digital foundation—a modern architecture that brings together data, processes, integrations, and AI, and upon which the organization can continue to build in the years to come.
