From market knowledge to proprietary software: Promentum continues to invest in product development

Promentum invests in its own software for retail and wholesale. Discover our Uniconta, integrations, and international product ambitions.

A good ERP system forms the foundation of an efficient organization. But retail and wholesale companies often have processes that go beyond the standard. These include complex inventory allocation, seasonal purchasing, multiple sales channels, package shipments, intercompany processes, and brick-and-mortar stores.

That’s exactly where Promentum Consulting’s strength lies. We don’t just implement Uniconta; we also develop our own software to further expand the platform for retail and wholesale.

As a result, Promentum continues to evolve into a combination of an implementation partner and a software developer.

Product Development Based on Real-World Experience

Our products aren't developed based on a theoretical product roadmap. Most of our ideas come directly from conversations with customers and from our own implementation projects.

When multiple companies encounter the same problem, we first determine whether it Uniconta be resolved using Uniconta standard functionality. If not, we explore whether we can develop a generic solution that can also be used by other organizations.

In this way, we are building a portfolio of reusable solutions step by step. As a result, customers benefit from proven functionality, while costly and difficult-to-maintain custom solutions are avoided as much as possible.

More solutions included in our bundles

We recently expanded our price list and product bundles. Within these bundles, we offer solutions for organizations of various sizes and with diverse needs.

One of our latest developments is our seasonal planning module. This solution helps retail companies determine the right inventory levels and order recommendations. It takes into account factors such as consumption, lead times, safety stock, and product classifications. The goal is clear: fewer lost sales, less excess inventory, and better utilization of available working capital.

We have also developed a new integration with a parcel delivery service. This allows companies to create Uniconta , print shipping labels, and track shipping statuses directly from Uniconta . As a result, employees spend less time switching between different systems and portals.

In addition, we’re offering an increasing number of integrations with specialized applications for e-commerce and omnichannel sales. We can now offer integrations with Channable, ChannelEngine, and Returnless, among others, as standardized solutions. Behind the scenes, we’re working on further integrations and new plugins.

Available to Promise: Control Over Inventory and Delivery Commitments

One development we are particularly proud of is our Available to Promise module.

For many wholesalers, simply knowing how much inventory is on hand is not enough. They also need to be able to determine for which customer or order that inventory is available and when a delivery can actually take place.

The ATP module automatically allocates available inventory to sales orders. In doing so, the solution takes into account not only current inventory levels, but also reservations, incoming purchase orders, order priorities, supplier lead times, warehouse hours, holidays, and transit times.

If delivery on the requested date is not possible, the module automatically calculates a realistic new delivery date. In this way, ATP helps companies plan more effectively, make more reliable commitments to customers, and allocate scarce inventory in a targeted manner.

ATP is a good example of product development that stems from in-depth knowledge of the retail market. It is not a standalone technical enhancement, but a solution for a business-critical process.

From Purchase Order to Sales Order Across Departments

Another example is our Intercompany module. Based on a purchase order in one Uniconta, it automatically creates a sales order in another accounting system.

For organizations with multiple companies or international branches, this prevents duplicate data entry and reduces the risk of errors. What began as a specific need for companies with multiple accounting departments has since become a product that is also used outside the Netherlands.

It is precisely this type of solution that demonstrates that market-driven product development can be scalable. A process issue identified with a single customer can be translated into reusable software for a broader group of users.

Kassiq: Integrated Point-of-Sale System for Retail

Our subsidiary, Genips, is also investing heavily in its own product development. A key result of this effort is Kassiq: a modern point-of-sale system for retail that is fully integrated with Uniconta PAY.

Kassiq runs in the browser and can be used on various devices. Products, prices, inventory, customers, and sales are Uniconta directly with Uniconta . The point-of-sale system can also continue to function largely offline if the internet connection is temporarily lost.

This creates a single, integrated environment for ERP, inventory, in-store sales, and payments. Retailers no longer need to manage separate systems with manual exports or complex workarounds.

The development of Kassiq is an important step toward our goal of offering an increasingly comprehensive solution for retail companies.

Products that are also growing internationally

In the Netherlands, we typically implement our products as part of a broader ERP project. These solutions help us offer customers a more comprehensive proposition and address processes for which standard ERP functionality alone is not sufficient.

But the market doesn't stop at the Dutch border.

Our products are now also being used by Uniconta in Germany, Denmark, Iceland, and Greenland. These are often organizations that Uniconta with Uniconta for some time and want to take the next step in automation and efficiency.

These customers do not need a completely new ERP implementation. They can add a specific module or integration to their existing environment. This allows our products to reach Uniconta international installed base as well.

A broader and more scalable revenue model

Product development is important to Promentum for several reasons.

First and foremost, our proprietary IP helps us provide better solutions for retail and wholesale companies. Without these market-driven enhancements, we would not have been able to handle various complex projects—or would have been less effective in doing so.

In addition to our consulting and implementation activities, we are seeing a growing stream of recurring software revenue. This consists of Uniconta, our own plugins and bundles, and products developed within our group, such as Kassiq.

This makes our revenue model broader and more scalable. Once a product has been developed, it can be deployed for multiple clients and in multiple countries. At the same time, new implementations provide insights and ideas for further product development.

This creates a synergistic effect:

Market knowledge leads to new products; new products strengthen our market position; and a stronger market position creates opportunities for further investments.

We will continue to invest

Promentum will therefore continue to invest in product development for retail and wholesale. Not to build as many standalone plugins as possible, but to develop a cohesive portfolio centered on the key processes of trading companies.

The combination of Uniconta, our proprietary software, specialized solutions from our partners, and Genips’ products enables us to offer increasingly comprehensive solutions.

Our ambition is clear: to help companies get more out of their ERP platforms while building software that creates value beyond individual projects and beyond the Netherlands.
